From 2015 NSSA SH Team Racing Champs

Cambridgeshire 2 were winners of the 2015 Single Handed Team Racing sailed at Hunts Sailing Club in Cambridgeshire this weekend, 10th and 11th October. They beat Royal Hospital School 2:0 in a closely fought Final.

The team of Michael Carver, Harry Moffatt and Tom Bryant were top of the table after the 160 races comprising 9 rounds and the end of the Swiss League part of the competition. They then had to battle through the semi finals which pitted Cambridgeshire against Plymouth 2 and a young Royal Hospital Team against Kent. Both Cambs and RHS came through with 2:0 wins.

In the Final RHS won the both starts but Cambs managed to conversions at mark 1 in both races. RHS did manage to compress the field on the run but were unable to break the Cambridge stranglehold as shown in the results which saw Cambs finishing 2, 3, 4 and 1, 2, 6.

The RYA are supporting and helping organise the 2016 event at Weymout on the weekend of November 5/6. The event will be sailed in the Elliott 6m as used at the Olympics. We hope that the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation will again support the event by underwriting the damage deposit of teams that might find this aspect off-putting but this will have to be applied for if it is available.

Last year George Barker arranged a 10% reduction at The Aqua. Hotel which offered a package of dinner bed and breakfast for £40 per head and was be the location for the Saturday evening de-brief.  An evening meal cost around £12 to £15 at local establishments in Weymouth.  The Aqua offered a packed lunch for £6 per person. We will try and use the same arrangement this year.
